The Relationship of Selected Community College Faculty Attitudes, Socialization Experiences and Reference Group Identities
Hill, Malcolm; Morrison, James L.
Community/Junior College Research Quarterly, 1, 1, 25-50, Oct-Dec 76
The relationship between selected attitudinal variables among community college faculty members was investigated, using a framework derived from symbolic interaction theory, through a survey of 627 faculty in five Pennsylvania community colleges. Results indicated variations in attitudes toward the community college philosophy and orientations toward education appear to have been consequences of differences in socialization experiences and reference group identities.
