This research utilized bibliometric analysis to assess both historic and current research trajectories and forecast upcoming research domains in social-emotional learning (SEL). We gathered 1,790 papers from the Web of Science database. Both co-citation and co-word analyses were used to highlight key publications, clarify the foundational knowledge structure, and foresee budding trends. The co-citation method outlined four main clusters: (1) The Transformative Power of SEL in Education, (2) Strategies and Impact of SEL in Education, (3) Ensuring Quality in the Implementation of SEL Programs, and (4) SEL in Early Childhood Education and School Readiness. Conversely, the co-word method pinpointed four principal clusters: (1) emotionally responsive classroom settings; (2) Emphasis on Strength-Based SEL post-COVID-19; (3) Implementation and Outcomes of SEL Programs; and (4) Mindfulness-Based Interventions and Positive Youth Development. The growing relevance of SEL research is becoming increasingly apparent. Nonetheless, a deeper dive is essential to fully understand the present research landscape in this crucial domain.
