Mick B. Brewer1
Communication Teacher, v39 n2 p108-116 2025
In response to the whiteness endemic to the field of interpersonal and family communication (IPFC), this "interpersonal relationships" journal assignment draws from critical race theory to offer students the opportunity to address and re/configure raced epistemes at the intersection of the self, culture, and power within an IPFC context. As a useful mode of assessment for various courses including varieties within both the interpersonal and family communication domains as well as those centering communication and race, the journal poses various potential benefits both inside of and beyond the classroom, including both proximal student and distal field, which are discussed.
