Reflection through Revisiting: Returning to Celebrating Creativity Collaboratively
English in Education, v59 n1 p111-123 2025
This paper reflects on two research projects undertaken a decade apart. The first, "Celebrating creativity collaboratively (CCC)," undertaken in 2009-10 (see Fitzgerald and Smith 2012), explored how a collaborative approach could inspire student teachers of English to become competent, confident teachers of creative writing. The second, "Celebrating creativity collaboratively II (CCCII)," undertaken in 2018-19, was a "revisit" of the original. The comparative findings will be reported elsewhere: the focus of this paper is on reflective practice and on revisiting as a research method. I argue that revisiting -- which involves consideration of the similarities and differences between the external and internal contexts of both the original and revisited research -- offers opportunities for fresh insights and understandings, not only on the areas of research but the researchers themselves. My focus on revisiting a "project" and a "question" is novel; further research on revisiting as method and use of revisiting is recommended.
