Grounding Our Teaching in Research: Implications from "Research in the Teaching of English," 2009-12
Jessica A. West; Cheri Williams
English Journal, v104 n6 p17-24 2015
"Research in the Teaching of English (RTE)," publishes current research on all aspects of English language learning and instruction and provides educators essential information on recent developments in the field. In this article, the authors synthesize the findings of 39 research studies published in "RTE" between 2009 and 2012 to help preservice and inservice English educators develop a clearer "reading" of the current state of the field. The findings of the content analysis are related to identity, writing pedagogy, new literacies, English language learners, and the teaching of literature, with the goal of informing English language arts teachers' pedagogy and practice in these areas.
