Unveiling Postgraduates' Perspectives on Using ChatGPT as a Tool for Learning in Higher Education
Atef Odeh AbuSa’aleek; Aied Alenizi
Teaching English with Technology, v24 n3 p4-17 2024
To better understand the use of ChatGPT as a tool for learning in higher education, this investigation reports student responses to an e-questionnaire investigating their perspectives on it. In particular, it delves into whether there are any significant differences between opinions based on gender and the level of study of 51 postgraduate students in the applied linguistics program at Majmaah University, Saudi Arabia. The study's findings revealed that postgraduates' attitudes were reported as being highly positive toward using ChatGPT as a learning aid in higher education. Considering gender differences, the descriptive statistics showed that male Saudi postgraduate students have a more positive attitude toward using ChatGPT as a tool for learning in terms of their study level. The findings indicated no significant difference among first- and secondyear postgraduate students toward using ChatGPT as a learning aid, which did not affect the study's findings.
