Opportunity Costs of the Common Core in High School ELA
Eamon Cunningham
English Journal, v104 n2 p34-39 2014
This article offers strategies for adjusting in-class curriculum to align with the Common Core State Standards (CCSS), and how to increase fluency with the demands of standardized tests. The implementation of the standards themselves, the inequality among school districts, whether the tests measure privilege over aptitude, the quality of professional development, and the degree of parental involvement in student work are all topics that are briefly spoken about within this article.
