Danielle Schmidt Buehrer; Kathryn D. Kloepper; Troy R. Nash
Assessment Update, v36 n6 p7, 14-15 2024
To help faculty connect programmatic assessment with the advancement of their own scholarly agenda, a professional development series was created that introduces faculty to the mutual benefits of the scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL) and academic program assessment. An additional benefit to faculty for participating in assessment activities is the potential for disseminating work that connects assessment to research. This article describes the two-part workshop, where faculty were introduced to SoTL research design and it was explained how it can be leveraged to create and improve programmatic assessment plans. Workshop content and recommendations for adaptation are then discussed.
