Efficacy of Stress Inoculation Training on General Health of the Mothers of Blind Children
International Journal of Disability, Development and Education, v71 n6 p955-967 2024
The aim of the current study was to investigate the influence of stress inoculation training (SIT) on the general health of mothers of children with visual impairments. The study population included the mothers of children with visual impairments aged 33-45 years during 2018-2019 academic year in Isfahan city. The participants were 34 mothers selected by convenient sampling method from Shahid Samani and Shahid Abedi schools. They were randomly divided into experimental (n = 17) and control (n = 17) groups. The experimental group received SIT in 10 sessions, while the control group did not. The instrument of study was General Health Questionnaire (Goldberg and Hiller, 1979). Data were analysed by using MANCOVA. The results indicated that the SIT had a significant effect on post-test scores of general health (P < 0.0001) in subjects. Based on these findings, SIT plays a critical role in the general health of the mothers of children with visual impairments.
