Investigations of the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) were conducted. A principal-components factor analysis yielded three psychologically meaningful factors: one A-Trait factor, Cognitive Anxiety, and two A-State factors, Negative Descriptors and Positive Descriptors. Other studies investigated the effects of two threats, on overall A-State and on the A-State factor scores. (Author)
