Wahesh, Edward; Khan, Zara; Moreton, Amanda
Journal of Student Affairs Research and Practice, v60 n4 p495-507 2023
We examined the direct and indirect effects of sleep hygiene practices on restful sleep and mental health with a sample of 270 NCAA Division I student athletes. Bootstrapping mediation analysis with 95% confidence intervals indicated that sleep hygiene had a direct and indirect effect, via days of restful sleep in the past week, on psychological distress and psychological well-being. Better sleep hygiene was associated with more days of restful sleep, improved well-being, and decreased distress.
