In view of the practical and theoretical importance of the issues involved, the current research was undertaken to investigate the diagnostic relevance of WAIS Verbal and Performance IQ in a large sample of psychiatric patients that included a variety of functional diagnostic groups as well as groups of mentally deficient and organic brain syndrome patients.
