Normalcy, Avoidance, Consciousness Raising: Exploring How Student Leaders Navigate Racial Battle Fatigue
Beatty, Cameron C.; Lima, Anastasia
Journal of Student Affairs Research and Practice, v59 n4 p371-384 2022
This study explored how 18 Student Leaders of Color (SLOC), mostly Black and Latinx students, navigated racial battle fatigue (RBF) as student leaders at a regional master's comprehensive university in New England and a large public research institution in the Southeast. This study applied RBF as a conceptual framework to explore how SLOC perceived themselves as leaders in a traditionally White higher education environment and made meaning of their racial trauma.
