Chemical Engineering Analysis through Systematic Modeling and Optimization
Chemical Engineering Education, v56 n4 p219-225 Fall 2022
A chemical engineering analysis course was modified to include analytics with advanced numerical methods. The course uses the MATLAB computational environment to develop student programming, modeling, analytics, and optimization skills. Case studies reinforce MATLAB, numerical methods, and advanced optimization skills. Students reported confidence in their MATLAB skills but expressed less confidence in their ability to set up mathematical models for optimization. The course now includes more straightforward modeling exercises to strengthen student modeling skills.
