The program incorporated the following: (a) a library/learning center in each of the Area Health Education Centers (AHEC) housing developing book and journal collections and nonbook instructional media; (b) a program for the selection and evaluation of self-instructional materials; (c) a uniform hardware system that included selected audiovisual equipment to play back nonbook learning materials inside and outside the classroom.
