Updating Policy within Youth Sport Organizations through Problem-Based Learning
Sport Management Education Journal, v16 n2 p165-167 Oct 2022
Problem-Based Learning (PBL) has been relied upon in business and related disciplines, such as sport management to connect pedagogy with the need for students to apply their knowledge in real-word situations (Decker-Lange, 2018; Delaney et al., 2017; Sherwood, 2004). Todd et al. (2014) have noted that sport management students often have existing personal connections with sport organizations; therefore, this teaching method may be particularly attractive because of the meaningful context it creates for students to learn. This article describes the use of a PBL approach that assists sport management students in gaining a better understanding of how community sport organizations (CSOs) are impacted by the intersection of sport with broader social issues.
