Foundational Praxes for Indigenizing Native American Serving Non-Tribal Institutions
About Campus, v27 n3 p14-19 Jul-Aug 2022
This article presents the foundational praxes to what values, services, and praxes should be in place for Native American Serving Non-Tribal Institutions (NASNTI). Each praxis includes questions and provides actions that each NASNTI should start examining and addressing. These praxes are imperative and interconnected to each other in building a community on campus for Native students while remaining connected to home. They are presented in four major themed areas: (1) Indigenizing institutional narratives and landscapes; (2) Indigenizing leadership; (3) Indigenizing academia; and (4) Indigenizing student support. There are examples of literature or institutional connections for readers to connect each praxis to throughout each section.
