Effect of Self-Efficacy on Vicarious Trauma and Resiliency in School Counsellors in Turkey

The aim of the study is to examine the mediating role of self-efficacy in the relationship between vicarious trauma (VT) and psychological resiliency (professional vitality, personal vitality, professional stress, personal stress) in school counsellors. In the study conducted with a total of 201 school counsellors (SC) working at different school types and levels, School Psychological Counsellor Self-Efficacy Scale, Vicarious Trauma Scale, and Skovholt Professional Resiliency and Self-Care Inventory were used as data collection tools. Mediation analyses are examined by using the "Simple Mediation Model 4" model via 5000 bootstrap sample. The results of the study revealed that self-efficacy plays a mediating role in the relationship between VT and psychological resiliency, professional vitality, personal vitality, professional stress, and personal stress.
