Carruthers, Jacinta; Rampe, Michael; Vlachopoulos, Panos
Journal of Educational Multimedia and Hypermedia, v30 n4 p317-332 Oct 2021
The pedagogical benefits of media-based assessments for students is well established. However, few studies have explored this mode of assessment from the perspective of the educator. This is a case study of media-based assessments in the Faculty of Arts at Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia. Eleven educators were surveyed to examine the benefits, challenges and principal considerations of implementing media-based assessments within the tertiary sector. This research seeks to inform current educational practice and function as a guide for tertiary educators who are considering implementing similar modes of assessments, with the goal of increasing further uptake of this form of assessment across a broader range of faculties at Macquarie University.
