Enhancing Creativity in Team Project-Based Learning amongst Science College Students: The Moderating Role of Psychological Safety
Innovations in Education and Teaching International, v58 n2 p135-145 2021
Creativity is an important educational goal. This study examines how creativity can be enhanced by investigating the relationships between team efficacy, psychological safety, team interaction, and team creativity in team project-based learning. A total of 294 students (93 teams) participating in project-based learning at a Korean university were surveyed, with data aggregated at team level and analysed using ordinary least squares regression. The direct effect of team efficacy on team interaction was moderated by psychological safety, and team interaction was positively related to team creativity. Furthermore, the indirect effect of team efficacy on team creativity through team interaction was moderated by psychological safety. These findings highlight the importance of psychological safety for enhancing team interaction and team creativity.
