From Seed to Harvest: Growing the Macdonald Campus Seed Library
Ingalls, Dana
New Review of Academic Librarianship, v27 n1 p97-112 2021
In 2017, the Macdonald Campus Seed Library was launched at the Macdonald Campus Library of McGill University. This seed library, the first in an academic library in Quebec and the third in Canada, is an unusual, innovative program, and has generated a great deal of interest and enthusiasm from the university community. It has proven to be an effective tool for outreach, offering many opportunities for community engagement and library promotion. This article defines seed libraries and discusses their history and educational significance, and details the process of conceptualizing, creating, and operating a seed library in an academic library.
