Scaling Silver Linings: Change and Sustainability in a Pandemic
Gonick, Lev
Change: The Magazine of Higher Learning, v53 n1 p18-21 2021
Making sense of change and how to think about change has never been more important. In the United States alone, 50 of 80 million total enrolled school-aged children and young adults (preschool to college) must adapt to the shift of formal education online due to the COVID-19 pandemic. And what were once leading disruptors, the Internet and information technology (IT), are now a stabilizing force that can enable authentic social connections. Arizona State University's multifaceted approach responded to pandemic-provoked challenges, including the development of a new hybrid learning modality, creation of a daily health check process, and more. The university's robust technical preparation allowed for operational innovations to continue to move forward projects that aim to realize a new future of teaching and learning beyond the pandemic.
