European Early Childhood Education Research Journal, v28 n5 p731-742 2020
Masturbation is common in pre-schoolers. Early childhood and early primary education are a period in which children learn about the social limits of privacy and sexual behavior. The approach to masturbation in preschool period is an important issue that concerns teachers and parents. Public masturbation can be successfully solved by behavioral intervention. The aim of the current study was to determine whether the teachers working in preschool education institutions encounter masturbation behavior and to reveal their attitudes towards masturbation behavior. According to the current study, the majority of preschool teachers do not want to participate in this study on masturbation behavior which is frequently encountered in preschool period, and it is suggested by teachers about masturbation behavior that this subject should not be discussed due to privacy concerns and should be solved within the family. It is thought that it will be beneficial to increase the number of the studies in this field and it is believed that this study will contribute to the future researches.
