Enhanced Undergraduate Learning through Integration of Theory and Computational Tools
Yenkie, Kirti Maheshkumar
Chemical Engineering Education, v54 n3 p129-136 Sum 2020
The current business trends, such as Industry 4.0, require a modern chemical engineer to know about programming, advanced computational tools, and holistic thinking. To this end, an integrated approach, where theoretical concepts are supplemented by computational lab-based exercises and team projects promoting "Design Thinking" is presented. For each course topic, a supporting computer lab session was designed to substantiate learning. Additionally, guidelines for topic selection, workplan development, and evaluation rubric were provided for team projects.
