The Use of "VPython"/"GlowScript" to Model Chemical Phenomena
Fairley, David
School Science Review, v101 n376 p79-81 Mar 2020
This article introduces the use of "VPython" (the "Python" programming language plus a 3D graphics module called "Visual") as a potentially valuable tool in teaching aspects of secondary school chemistry, which also provides an opportunity for students to gain some experience with manipulating and/or writing computer code in the context of the chemistry classroom. Use of the "Trinket" website (www.trinket.io) facilitates ready creation of programs without the need to download any software. The article gives three examples of programs that could be utilised in the classroom, either for demonstration purposes or to give students an opportunity to interact directly with the underlying code.
