Caring as a Transformative Model for Arts Integration
Dalton, Jane E.; Hrenko, Kelly A.
Curriculum and Teaching Dialogue, v18 n1-2 p89-102 2016
This chapter shares the process of preservice art teachers as they use ideas of "care" alongside traditional art integration practices. We suggest that in preparing preservice teachers to use both ideas of "care" and art in their teaching, we can support and strengthen inclusion and equity of all students through an emotionally supportive education process. This new art integration process, "transformative arts integration," utilizes practices that are holistic and rooted in notions of "care."
