The World GeoHistoGram: A Flexible Organizer of Both History and Geography
Mater, Marty; Bloom, Cindy
Geography Teacher, v17 n1 p5-9 2020
The World GeoHistoGram (GHG) is a flexible graphic organizer that can be used to support many different instructional strategies and activities. This visual resource offers teachers and students a way to organize knowledge into a geographic and historical framework. More important, the GHG is one of the first instructional products designed to incorporate the findings of contemporary brain research, using the human brain's natural tendencies to organize knowledge in space-time context (Gersmehl and Gersmehl 2011). This article describes the basic framework of both sides of the GHG and includes activities and suggestions for introducing the resource and using it in the classroom.
