The Truth about the Politically Correct University
Maranto, Robert
Change: The Magazine of Higher Learning, v52 n1 p46-53 2020
Although controversial, political correctness in higher education is an under-studied phenomenon. Empirical research suggests that higher education's liberal dominance has little impact on the grades of conservative undergraduates. Yet political correctness does affect professors and their research in ways that hinder the ability to seek truth while undermining higher education's public support. Higher education should support increased ideological diversity, and there are ways for faculty, alumni, and policy makers who want to to make that happen.
