Building a Community of Inquiry in Online Library Instruction: The CoI Framework Applied
English, Michael; West, Patricia; Jackson, Joi
Journal of Library & Information Services in Distance Learning, v13 n3 p283-293 2019
With more classes moving online in traditional higher educational institutions, an opportunity exists for academic librarians to increase their instructional presence and use strategies to optimize student information literacy learning. One strategy is using the Community of Inquiry (CoI) framework to guide their approach. This article details a librarian-instructor collaboration that relied upon the CoI framework to guide development of an online instructional module that included an embedded librarian presence and learning activities to replace a dynamic, face-to-face library instructional session.
