Gebauer, Richie
Journal of Political Science Education, v15 n3 p410-412 2019
The Learning Communities Association (LCA) is a national organization designed for individuals to get involved in advancing learning community work in an effort to bring unity to and expand participation opportunities for learning community (LC) practitioners. The LCA offers a series of webinars each academic year to advance learning community theory and practice. This review describes the origins and mission of the LCA, as well as critical takeaways from several webinars offered in the 2017-2018 academic year to inform readers of the various structures of LCs, the importance of intentionality as it pertains to LC design, and the benefits of these communities on both student success and faculty teaching and scholarship.
