Understanding the Board Certified Behavior Analyst Credential
Gadke, Daniel L.; Stratton, Kasee K.; Kazmerski, Jennifer S.; Rossen, Eric
Communique, v45 n1 p1, 18-19 Sep 2016
The Behavior Analysis Certification Board (BACB) awards four practicing credentials: (a) Registered Behavior Technician (RBT); (b) Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA); (c) Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), and; (d) Board Certified Behavior Analyst-Doctoral (BCBA-D). The BCBA is a practice credential obtainable by many with a master's degree in applied behavior analysis, psychology, or education. Many school psychologists have crossed paths, in some capacity, with professionals holding the Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or Board Certified Behavior Analyst-Doctoral (BCBA-D) credentials. This article will primarily focus on the BCBA credential, by describing the benefits and requirements of the BCBA credential and why it may be important to school psychologists.
