Considering Visual Arts Practices at the Secondary Level: Extending Cross-Curricular Conversations among Secondary Educators
Scott, Tanya; Twyman, Todd
Art Education, v71 n2 p16-20 2018
Academic disciplines are often seen as separate fields of study with little in common, when in reality they are interconnected through a multitude of complex nuances. In this article, the authors discuss how the barriers between academic disciplines have been broken down through integrated and interdisciplinary visual arts practices. They also offer suggestions for future research in maintaining disciplinary boundaries while constructing cross-curricular visual arts practices at the secondary level to contextualize learning and foster student self-efficacy and desire to learn.
