Improving FCS Accountability: Increasing STEM Awareness with Interior Design Modules
Etheredge, Jessica; Moody, Dana; Cooper, Ashley
Journal of Family and Consumer Sciences, v106 n4 p7-9 2014
This paper demonstrates ways in which family and consumer sciences (FCS) educators can explore more opportunities to integrate Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) principles into secondary education curriculum. Interior design is used as a case study for creating learning modules that incorporate STEM principles in a creative and stimulating way. As such, FCS educators should be accountable for increasing STEM awareness in their curriculum and preparing students for the workplace of tomorrow.
