Conservation and conservation education are critically examined, their definitions, foundations, principles, concepts, weaknesses, failures, and successes. It is concluded educators must first educate themselves, or environmental education will fail the same way conservation education has failed to educate Americans to the intricate interrelationships of the natural world of man.
