Symmetry of Clauses and the Psychological Significance of Left-Branching
Goldman-Eisler, Frieda; Cohen, Michele
Language and Speech, 14 pt 2, 109-14, Apr-Jun 71
Deals with symmetry in sentence clauses and the psychological significance of clauses to the left of the predicate. Results show that (1) symmetry is not a characteristic of clauses, and (2) left-branching is an individually consistent measure and a psychological indicator when compared to right-branching which does not qualify as such. Tables and references. (VJ)
