Children vary widely in their entering behavior" as they come to primary grades. This variation seems to be a result of variations in attention from adults interested in helping them learn. In elementary grade geography, teachers must help fill in the gaps for individual students who have not had their attention held on location, symbols, scale, relative location, and the globe.
