Summer SEED Survey Report
Oregon Department of Education
The following report highlights the results of the Student Voice, Summer Student Educational Equity Development (SEED) Survey. The Summer SEED Survey is directly aligned to the Oregon SEED Survey administered during the school year and has the purpose of amplifying student voice to refine program implementation and shape decision-making. The Oregon Department of Education (ODE) piloted the administration of this Summer SEED Survey in August 2022 and heard from 1,973 students across the state, entering grades 3rd through 12th, attending school-based and 21st Century Community Learning Center summer programs (21st Century grantees include both school-based and community based organizations). The survey questions assess five areas of student perception: (1) sense of belonging; (2) student voice and choice; (3) well-rounded learning opportunities; (4) identity affirming environment; and (5) strength-based approaches. The results from the survey point to key insights and takeaways from students on how to increase engagement and enrich opportunities in summer learning.
