Digital Policy Framework. ExcelinEd Policy Toolkit - 2023
Foundation for Excellence in Education (ExcelinEd)
To bridge the digital divide and fully leverage digital resources, this toolkit identifies four key policy areas for state leaders to focus on: (1) Access and infrastructure policies and best practices ensure states identify students' needs, effectively leverage funds and develop sustainable models for connectivity and device access; (2) As technology evolves, exciting and high-paying digital career pathways provide students with new ways to earn a living that offers rewarding experiences and chances to advance; (3) Digital access supports virtual choice opportunities through full-time virtual schools, online course access programs and opportunities for virtual tutoring and student supports; and (4) Digital teaching and learning include the tools, instructional materials and professional learning that prepares educators to effectively integrate technology. Digital literacy training for students and families ensures they can access and apply that instruction. ExcelinEd also facilitates quarterly opportunities for partnership through its Digital Divide Network, which offers an opportunity for collaboration, sharing best practices, troubleshooting common problems, and presentations on emerging practices.
