The massive challenges created by 2020's global pandemic--and a renewed resolve to address educational equity--have sounded an urgent call to act on behalf of students and their future. For more than a decade, ExcelinEd has been at the forefront of a movement to transform education across America. This playbook describes ExcelinEd's broad range of student-centered policy solutions that promote quality, innovation and opportunity in education. With these solutions, five goals have been established with action plans state policymakers can use to transform education by increasing student learning, advancing equity and readying graduates for college and career. These goals are: (1) Close Learning Gaps--guaranteeing every child receives academic support to learn, succeed, and achieve their full potential; (2) Bridge the Digital Divide--ensuring every student has equitable access to the digital superhighway; (3) Empower Families with Opportunity--providing families with access to the learning environment that best fits their child's needs; (4) Strengthen Pathways to College and Career--supporting every student in gaining in-demand skills for lifelong success; and (5) Reimagine Learning--transforming the when, where, and how of education to individualize learning.
