One in every 10 children has a disability. These 240 million children, like all others, have hopes and dreams. Yet they also face unique challenges and barriers shaped by ableism and stigma. This report documents UNICEF and its partners' disability evidence generation from 2018 to 2022. It underscores the organization's deep-rooted commitment to advancing the rights of children with disabilities through evidence-based actions. Alongside the recently updated Evidence and Gap Map on inclusive interventions for children with disabilities, this report showcases existing achievements in research and evidence. These are offered as inspiration to be replicated, adapted and scaled up to drive inclusion for children with disabilities. This report covers a diverse range of work across various geographical areas, methodological approaches, topic focuses and partnerships. The evidence presented has influenced UNICEF programming, shaped government policies and legislation, and affected the invaluable work carried out by organizations of persons with disabilities (OPDs). The authors invite the reader to delve into this report to explore just some of the many examples of the expansive work UNICEF and its partners have undertaken to generate evidence on both the impact of disabilities and the promotion of inclusion among those affected. The hope is that this report leads to an increase in evidence-based actions for children with disabilities.
