Using Technology to Monitor Student's Progress to Improve Student Achievement
Saima Sanaullah
ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, Saint Leo University
Technology integration into classrooms is crucial for student success. It should be implemented beyond lesson planning and organizing information. Digital tools like Mastery Connect can effectively drive data-driven instruction to close learning gaps. The TPACK Model outlines the framework for successfully integrating technology into the classroom. Data literacy and assessment literacy are critical aspects of teaching models. Classroom teachers should implement data-driven decision-making to target student needs. The current research study was conducted with teachers teaching biology curricula in a suburban school district. Both qualitative and quantitative data were collected to evaluate the effectiveness of using digital tools such as Mastery Connect methods to improve student learning, thus enhancing their level of performance in Biology End-of-Course (EOC) exams. The study compared the Biology EOC scores from year 1 to year 2 and year 3 of Mastery Connect implementation. Additionally, the Likert scale and open-ended questions were used to collect the teacher's responses on the effects of Mastery Connect in improving Biology EOC scores. The study suggests a positive correlation exists between Mastery Connect usage and Biology EOC scores in biology classrooms. The survey also indicated that Mastery Connect can help monitor student progress and provide targeted instruction to improve student learning.
