The Action Research Cycle: Exploring Pedagogic Puzzles. Sage Research Methods Cases Part 2
Andrew Boon
Sage Research Methods Cases
This case study provides an overview of an Action Research project that examines effective instruction-giving in the language classroom. The case describes each of the various phases of the Action Research cycle from identifying a researchable pedagogic puzzle or critical incident, collecting and analyzing classroom data about it, bringing about an intervention or change, and observing and evaluating the various effects it had on the overall teaching and learning environment. It also highlights the lessons learned by the researcher looking back on the research project and provides suggestions for improvements to the original methodology employed. Finally, post-reading exercises are provided to encourage the reader to embark on his or her own Action Research project. [This content is provided in the format of an e-book.]
