Designing Online Questionnaires for Course Evaluation and Regional Educational Needs Assessment. Sage Research Methods Cases Part 2
Augusto V. C. Legaspi; Scott H. Henwood
Sage Research Methods Cases
This research methods case (more accurately, cases) discusses the use of online questionnaires. We focus on two projects that help us showcase the range of considerations and many decision points involved with using online questionnaires to collect data. Our cases--the conduct of course evaluations in a community college and a regional educational needs assessment--bring to light advantages and disadvantages of online questionnaires relative to paper. The projects also demonstrate the importance of collaboration with stakeholders (subject matter experts, clients, and target populations) in achieving objectives. Through these examples from the field and our lessons learned, we suggest strategies for ensuring that projects using online questionnaires are able to meet the needs of all parties.
