In the 21st century, digital technology skills are necessary to succeed in technology-rich environments such as the school, the workplace, and daily life activities such as shopping online, applying for jobs, working online, and receiving education. This qualitative case the study provided insights into digital literacy and the most influential factors to develop digital skills in adult English language learners through an ESL program. Adult English language learners (ELLs) are part of the new American workforce, and educational leaders, program administrators, and instructional designers of adult education programs must consider the learning needs of this population of adult learners. Seven adults, English language learners, participated in the research. Data sources included responses from virtual interviews and an analysis of the ESL Career Pathways and the Integrated Education & Training (IET) Information Technology curriculum. NVivo 12 software processed the data, created coding, and retrieved themes. The major findings involved five significant themes: (a) digital literacy perceptions for success, (b) digital literacy skills and the ESL program, (c) barriers to digital literacy skill, (d) digital literacy curriculum perceptions, and (e) different adult literacy program. The findings presented that adult ELLs face barriers to developing digital literacy through the adult ESL program with digital literacy integration. The study results are significant to educational leaders, educational technology specialists, and instructional designers responsible for providing educational excellence and creating a curriculum that addresses the ELLs' needs to prepare them for career and employment readiness in the digital era.
