This study explored the training needs of small colleges and universities to adopt cloud computing securely. The purpose of this qualitative phenomenological study was to determine what training would allow the small colleges and universities to deploy cloud computing solutions securely. The research interviewed 10 IT leaders from small colleges and universities around the United States via Zoom. The data collection included a series of semi-structured questions to gain insight into cybersecurity, cloud, cloud security, and training from their perspective. The research participants all had at least five years of experience working with cloud computing. The research identified themes shared across the interviews. The findings of this study identified elements of consistency across the small colleges and universities that could be addressed through the future training material. The findings can help those developing training to focus the training on the specific needs of this group of organizations.
