This review of literature examines a compilation of research focused on migrant and refugee youth in pre-flight and post resettlement experiences which require specific and evidence based approaches by the host community and subsequent institutions (schools) to support and develop interventions in school based settings to advance success in both academic and non-academic (social, behavioral, and psychological) ways. Identification, barriers to engagement, examples of successful integrated models of intervention and recommendations are examined and discussed. Best practices and evidence based approaches are detailed for educators to incorporate and implement based on their own unique populations of migrant and refugee students.
