Prevalence and predictive factors in assessing alcohol use in the United States are understudied. This study addresses a population which has not been studied extensively in the U.S. The purpose of this study was to explore how acculturative stress, model-minority stereotype, gender, and religiosity predict alcohol use frequency in Punjabi Sikhs college students in the United States. Alcohol use is a growing issue in the Punjabi Sikh community and this quantitative study hoped to provide insight on whether these variables predict alcohol use behavior in the population. This study's sample was comprised of Punjabi Sikh college students in California. An online survey was distributed to the participants. Findings elucidated a better understanding cultural predictors of alcohol use among Punjabi Sikhs. Understanding these predictors of alcohol use can motivate health professionals to establish initiatives in prevention, treatment, and interventions for at-risk individuals.
