Ashley M. Atwood
ProQuest LLC, Ph.D. Dissertation, Regent University
As crisis and trauma related topics and events have become more prominent within society, a need has been created to take a closer look at the preparedness of school counselors to appropriately respond to such situations. The purpose of this study will be to use social cognitive theory to examine school counselors' perceptions of crisis and trauma related training, availability of resources, accessibility of professional support, and confidence in handling crisis and trauma events. This descriptive study will employ a survey design, in which school counselors in rural areas of West Texas will be surveyed to gather quantitative data on their perceptions of crisis and trauma response. Keywords: social cognitive theory, school counselors, rural, crisis and trauma. [The dissertation citations contained here are published with the permission of ProQuest LLC.
