The Use of Technology to Improve the Curriculum Design for Faculty
Ernie Tamafili Seiuli
ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, Capella University
The purpose of this capstone curriculum project was to provide training and professional development for faculty to improve the use of technology skills in the classroom. The administration at the capstone site became aware that faculty were not familiar with the use of technology. To address the concern, the faculty received professional development so that they would train and equip themselves with tools to integrate into their curricula. The capstone project training aimed to meet the unique needs of faculty and guide them on how to implement instructional strategies by using technology. During the professional development, this research's aim was for the faculty to gain more knowledge and, to do this, the faculty collaboratively with others developed syllabi that they could use to help support and meet the needs of students in learning. The deliverable impacted theoretical diversity perspectives related to the use of Microsoft Office applications and the Modular Object Oriental Dynamic Learning Environment through the development of its curriculum. The training focused primarily on the use of technology to improve the curriculum design for faculty at the capstone site. This followed the implementation of the ASSURE design to improve the training (analyze, state standards, select strategies, use technology, require learner participation, evaluation, and revisit). The following design focused on analyzing and developing a technology training curriculum that had the potential to improve educational productivity. Evaluation of the curriculum product involved the use of the D. Kirkpatrick model (1996) that follows four levels of evaluation: (a) reaction, (b) learning, (c) behavior, and (d) results.
