The School Health Policies and Practices Study (SHPPS) is a national survey periodically conducted to assess school health policies and practices at the state, district, school, and classroom levels. SHPPS 2016 assessed the characteristics of selected components of the Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child model: (1) health education; (2) physical education and physical activity; (3) nutrition environment and services; (4) health services; (5) counseling, psychological, and social services; (6) social and emotional climate; (7) physical environment; and (8) employee wellness in a nationally representative sample of public school districts. This report presents the trends of SHPPS findings over the years 2000, 2006, 2012, and 2016.
